Careers

Come build documentation systems that hold up under AI retrieval.

We're a small, senior-weighted studio. Every practitioner reads code, ships pull requests, runs user interviews, and owns the maintenance system inside a client's codebase. Remote, async-first, compensated at the top of the market for the discipline.

What it's like

Why work here.

Senior-weighted team

We hire for autonomy. Every practitioner operates without being told what to fix next. The work compounds because people have enough context to anticipate drift instead of react to it.

Remote, async-first

Work from wherever. Two hours of overlap with one other team member is typically enough. Meetings are the exception; written artifacts are the default.

Top-of-market compensation

Competitive salary for the discipline. No equity games — we're a studio, not a venture — just cash you can see in your bank account. Full health, dental, and vision; four weeks PTO; a real L&D budget.

Work that compounds

Documentation systems we build often run for years. Your worst case is a three-month project that raises a team's output permanently; your best case is a six-month embed where you become the memory of a product.

Open roles

We're hiring for three profiles right now.

Documentation Engineer

RemoteSenior

You read code fluently, ship PRs against client repos, own the maintenance system inside a product team. You're not a 'technical writer who learned some Git' — you're an engineer who can structure an API reference from the schema out.

  • 5+ years shipping production software; comfortable in at least two of: Python, TypeScript, Go, Rust.
  • Opinions about content models. Preferably earned through a full API-reference or developer-portal rebuild.
  • Comfort running the user-interview / AI-retrieval-validation loop without hand-holding.
Apply

Senior Technical Writer

RemoteSenior

You've shipped a published documentation surface that didn't suck, and you can explain why it didn't. You know Diátaxis, DITA, or Every Page Is Page One well enough to break the rules on purpose.

  • 5+ years technical writing; at least one engagement where you owned the content model (not just executed someone else's).
  • Strong editorial judgment. You can tell which sentences are load-bearing and cut the rest.
  • Comfortable with docs-as-code workflows (Git, PRs, review, CI).
Apply

DevRel / DX Practitioner

RemoteSenior

You've been the external face of a developer product. You run interviews, record screencasts, build demo apps, and know when a 404 in an API reference will cost real revenue.

  • Past role owning DevRel / DX at a developer-platform company.
  • You've built at least one reference integration against someone else's API and shipped the write-up.
  • Instinct for where real friction lives — 'this endpoint technically works but no one can tell what it does.'

Our interview process.

  1. 1

    Apply

Form below, async intake with Fireflies, or book a 30-minute discovery call. Paste a link to work you're proud of — any format.

  2. 2

    Conversation — 45 minutes

You meet with two DevDocs practitioners. We talk about your past work and ours. No trick questions; no whiteboard brainteasers.

  3. 3

Paid work sample — 3 to 5 hours

Real task from a current engagement, scoped tightly. Paid at our consulting rate. You're asked to submit what you'd actually ship, not a polished portfolio piece.

  4. 4

    Final walkthrough — 60 minutes

You walk us through your work sample and ask whatever you want about the team, clients, or business. We make a decision within three business days.

No cover letters. No take-home essays. We pay for the paid work sample. Decisions are communicated by a human, not a generated form letter.
